TITLE:              Medical Documentation Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Intake Operations
REPORTS TO:   Director, National Intake Operations

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Medical Documentation Specialist is responsible to obtain medical documents from our referral source and send them to the assessors prior to their assessments. This is done by reviewing, sorting and scanning the medical documents received and then preparing an electronic brief for the assessor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of one year related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in a medical office preferred. Post Secondary education is an asset. Must have reliable transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced computer efficiency pertaining to Windows 7, MS Office 2013 and data based programs
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and manage tasks
  • Able to work in high impact environment and possess the ability to multi task
  • Must be familiar with the various Insurance forms and medical terminology
  • Must be familiar with the auto accident regulations within Ontario as it pertains to the various benefits available
  • Familiar with auto insurance regulations outside Ontario is an asset
  • Attention to detail and ability to take meticulous notes
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team enviroment and independently

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Send out all AB files to doctors/assessors either electronically or by
  • Coordinating courier pickups/deliveries
  • Merging files as required
  • Scanning and saving files
  • Communicate with medical coordinator and clients as required
  • Print files from CD’s
  • Create med brief summaries
  • Review vendor assessment requests for Intake Coordinator
  • Extended hours are occasionally required beyond the regular eight (8) hour work day depending on volume
